Reflections contest
Madelyn entered the PTA's reflection contest again this year. The theme was "Together We Can...". She made a poster with pictures she cut out of a magazine showing people taking care of the Earth and she also wrote a story about some school friends that form a club and do different things to take care of the Earth. She won third place for both Visual Arts and Literature!

Go Big Red!
Questions, questions, questions...
Madelyn gets in the car in the mornings and says "Ok mom, there are some things I've been thinking about and I have some questions". It's like she dreams a list of questions to ask me each day. Many of the questions (like "why do you go in the downstairs bathroom if there's a tornado?") are followed by "How do you know that?" It's exhausting at times, but I guess I should be thankful that she is so inquisitive and wants to know so much! I am glad however that Madelyn is with my sister right now and that she got the question "How come that place is called Hooters?"

Animal Crackers
Today Ella was eating animal crackers. She was naming all of the farm animals and telling me the sounds they make. After she named them all I said "Ella, you are such a smart cookie!" And she said, "No mommy, animal crackers."

Meet the Teacher...and ME!!!
Tonight at Meet the Teacher, Madelyn saw a sweet little girl that was in my class last year. She ran up to her and said "Katie! You're in my class! Now you will get to see ME every day!!!"

Pete's a Pizza
Today I read "Pete's a Pizza" to the girls. For lunch we made mini cheese pizzas. We cut shapes out of mozzarella cheese with cookie cutters. For dessert, we made fruit pizzas. While everything was baking we "acted out" the story and I pretended to make the girls into "pizzas". This one is close to my heart because when I was little and sad or homesick, my Grandma Mercer used to pretend to make me into "a loaf of bread".

Booty shakin!
Madelyn would be so embarrassed if she knew I wrote this, but it made me laugh SO hard!!! We were in the car and a fast song came on and she said "Mom, this song is starting to make my bottom dance!"
